Lagos Airport Terminals

General Aviation Terminal (GAT / MMA1)

Domestic flights. Airlines: Arik Air, Air Peace, Overland Airways, Green Africa.

The older, government-run domestic terminal. It has no lounges at the moment.

MMA2

Domestic flights. Airlines: Air Peace, United Nigeria, Ibom Air, Max Air, Rano Air, ValueJet, Aero Contractors, Arik Air.

Privately run (Bi-Courtney) and handles about three-quarters of domestic flights in Lagos. Self-service check-in kiosks and a multi-storey car park.

International Terminal 1 (MMIA)

International flights. Airlines: Long-haul airlines such as British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Delta, United, Lufthansa, KLM, Air France, Ethiopian and Kenya Airways.

International Terminal 2 (new terminal)

Regional and international flights. Airlines: Air Peace, Ibom Air, Africa World Airlines, Air Côte d’Ivoire, RwandAir and others.

Some airlines use both international terminals, so check the terminal on your ticket.

Getting there

Getting to Lagos Airport

Murtala Muhammed International Airport is in Ikeja, about 12 km (7 miles) northwest of Lagos city centre. The domestic terminals (GAT/MMA1 and MMA2) and the international terminals are about 1 km apart, so check which terminal your flight uses before you set off.

Taxi: Licensed yellow taxis and official airport taxis wait outside the terminals. Agree the fare before you start.
Ride-hailing: Uber, Bolt and inDrive pick up and drop off at the airport.
By car: From central Lagos, Ikorodu Road (A1) leads to the airport; allow at least 30 minutes, more in traffic. From Ikeja, go straight at the Skyline Hotel lights for GAT/MMA1, or turn towards the Air Force base after the AP filling station for MMA2.
Car rental: Europcar and Hertz have desks at the airport.
Public transport: Buses pass near the airport, but you usually need a short taxi ride to your terminal.
Parking: MMA2 has a multi-storey car park with about 800 spaces, 24-hour CCTV and a bridge to the terminal. Hourly and overnight rates apply.

Check-in at Lagos Airport

Check-in usually opens 24 hours before departure and closes 2 hours before for domestic flights. For international flights it opens 48 hours before and closes 4 hours before. Flights booked on Flightpadi are checked in for you automatically, with reminders and your e-ticket sent to you.

Domestic flights: arrive at least 2 hours early and go to your airline’s counter at MMA2 or GAT. International flights: arrive 3–4 hours early, check in at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, then go through immigration and security. The domestic and international terminals are about 1 km apart.
